The Backyard

The Backyard is the Sunday morning environment for children infant to Kindergarten. We are passionate about connecting children to God in a fun, creative & meaningful setting and supporting parents in communicating the ageless truths of a loving God at home. Our goal is to teach every child: God made them, God loves them and Jesus wants to be their friend forever.

What to expect:

Upon arrival, hospitality volunteers welcome families to the Backyard. First time guests are asked to fill out a brief registration form. We check children into their age-appropriate classroom through our computer database. Each child receives a unique alpha-numerical nametag; parents receive a smaller ticket with the same alpha-numeric sequence to ensure safety.
Volunteers are available to escort families to the classrooms.
Teachers are prepared to welcome children into the classrooms 20 minutes before the start of the service.
All of our volunteers are background checked and trained. They are excited to care for, love and teach your children!

If you have questions, please contact: Emily Espinosa.

Hope to see you in the Backyard soon!

The Backyard:::May 2013: Be A Part of God’s Story!

What a wonderful month May has been so far in the Backyard. Your little ones are learning about having helping hands and our focus has been on ways we can serve and love those around us. I know many of your families participated in the book fair for Greenway Park, what an awesome opportunity that was for our little ones to see this first hand and WOW did God multiply!  5 books for every child at the entire school and an additional 200 books purchased for every single classroom!

Teaching children at this age that they truly can be part of God’s story is so exciting and we love to offer you opportunities to do this! On Monday June 24th and Monday July 29th from 10am-11:30am we will be serving at Bright Blessings in Matthews  (www.BrightBlessingsUSA.org ). Bright Blessings is set up to accommodate kids of all ages so please bring your little ones! Afterwards we will all meet for a picnic lunch and playground time.  Bright Blessings does require an RSVP for how many volunteers (children and adults) we will bring so please let me know if you are planning to attend.

During May in the Backyard we will continue instilling one of our core foundational teachings, God made me and I can help others!

A great way to continue the talk at home with your little ones is by watching these videos together during the week! Links below:::

It’s SPRING time in the Backyard!

Hello Backyard Parents!

It’s SPRING!!!! What a happy day it is in our home for all when we can finally get outside to play! And what better way to explain and show your kids the beautiful creativity and vast wonder of our God than outside! Easter was an exciting time for us in the Backyard and we truly treasure spending these special moments with your children.

We will be offering a child dedication after second service on April 28, 2013. If you are interested in dedicating your child/children please send me an email at emilyespinosa@newcharlotte.org . We get very excited about this special time for families and see it as an important first step. As you commit to raise you little ones in the Word of the Lord, we commit as a family ministry to walk along side of you and provide you with the tools and encouragement to shepherd them. I will have some homework for you to grab from me on Sunday April 14th and then we will have a meeting on April 21st during second service to discuss. If you have any questions about this process or what it means please feel free to ask!

During April in the Backyard will continue instilling one of our core foundational teachings, Jesus wants to be my friend forever and Jesus wants me to tell others about Him.

Our verse for April is:  “Go and make disciples of all nations.” Matthew 28:19

WEEK 1 | MATTHEW 28:19-20 Jesus spends time with His disciples before going to be with God. He tells them to go and make disciples of all nations.

WEEK 2 | ACTS 12:1-7
Peter is put in jail for telling others about Jesus. God helps Peter by miraculously setting Him free.

WEEK 3 | ACTS 9:1-19
The love of Jesus changes Saul, a man who hates followers of Jesus, to Paul, a man who wants everyone to know about Jesus.

WEEK 4 | ACTS 16:16-34
Paul and Silas are arrested and put in jail for telling people about Jesus. They praise the Lord while in jail and continue to tell others about Jesus even though it’s hard.

Please let me know if there is anything we can do to serve you and your family.

“So commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these words of mine. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”  Deuteronomy 11: 18-19

The Bible Project Act 2

Hello Backyard Parents!

It’s February and that means we are back to the BIBLE PROJECT for Act 2! As a parent, I love the fact that we are learning the same thing in service that our little ones are learning in their classes! At New Charlotte our Family ministry has 5 core values. They are to empower parents, allow for another persons of influence in your child’s life, provide catalytic environments, engage the next generation and we believe the Bible is foundational.  By offering the Bible Project across the board to all ages we believe we can help empower you as parents! I encourage you over the next 6 weeks to have conversations weekly with your children about what you are learning and engage them through this process to talk with you about what they have learned.

We will continue to provide tools to make this possible for you. Please be sure to pick up a small talk card this weekend that will have the scripture references for the Bible Project. Also, be sure to grab the Parent Talk Live CD! Its an awesome 10 minute message and just happens to be about time with our children. Both will be available at check-in!

Their verse for February is:

“God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Below are the stories we will focus on for the Bible Project: (Stories taken from The Story Book Bible)
