Day One Back to School
Many teachers at Title I schools spend precious time and their own resources preparing for the start of the school year. For the 2017-2018 school year, in partnership with Church At Charlotte, we prepared 100 Student/Teacher Survival Kits classrooms at Greenway Park Elementary and Idlewild Elementary Schools. 75 volunteers attended our serve night to pack the kits.
These kits included backpacks, schools supplies for students, and shared supplies for the classrooms. These kits helped Teachers and more than 1700 Students begin teaching and learning on Day One.

Each weekend during the school year, Matthews HELP Center distributes 70 backpacks full of kid friendly, healthy food to students at Matthews Elementary and Greenway Park Elementary. Many local children receive free or reduced-cost breakfasts and lunches at school, but may have no food on the weekends. The BounceBack Backpack program supplements a hungry child's diet and eases anxieties, improves attention span, and increases academic performance.
